What’s included in an Umrah package — and what isn’t
Two packages can look identical on a poster and be very different trips. This is the checklist we use ourselves when someone asks us to compare an Eman Way package with another agency’s.
Always included with Eman Way
- Return flights from Kuala Lumpur (Oman Air, Emirates or similar — named on the package page).
- Hotels in Makkah and Madinah, with the hotel names and star rating stated, not just "4-star hotel".
- Umrah visa application and processing.
- Airport pickup and drop-off in Saudi Arabia, and the road transfer between Makkah and Madinah.
- A mutawwif (religious guide) who travels with the group and leads the Umrah rites.
- Ziarah — guided visits to historical sites in and around Makkah and Madinah.
- Zamzam water to bring home.
Included on some packages — check the page
- Meals: some tiers include breakfast or full board; Super Ekonomi typically does not, because pilgrims prefer to eat near the Haram on their own schedule.
- Ihram, bag and travel kit.
- Pre-departure Umrah course (kursus umrah).
- Travel insurance.
Not included
- Personal expenses, shopping and phone data.
- Optional tours outside the programme.
- Excess baggage.
- Room upgrades beyond the sharing option you booked.
How to compare two packages honestly
Put them side by side and check five lines: hotel names and their distance to the Haram in metres; room sharing (quad, triple, double); airline and number of stops; whether meals are included; and whether the mutawwif stays with the group the whole trip or only meets you in Makkah. Price differences almost always come from those five.
If an agency will not name the hotel, treat it as unknown — "5-star" means nothing without a name and a distance.
Why the mutawwif matters more than people expect
A good mutawwif turns a trip into an act of worship. They lead the tawaf and sa’i, explain the ziarah sites, handle problems with hotels or transport, and answer the questions you did not know you had. Every Eman Way group travels with one from departure to return.
