Umrah visa for Malaysians: what you actually need
Yes, Malaysian passport holders need an Umrah visa. The good news: with an Eman Way package the application is part of the service — you supply a few documents, we handle the rest. Here is what to prepare and when.
What you provide
- A passport valid for at least 6 months from your travel date, with at least two blank pages. This is the requirement that catches most people — check the expiry date today.
- A recent passport-style photo with a plain white background (we will tell you the exact size).
- Your full details as printed in the passport, plus contact information and next-of-kin.
- For children travelling with one parent, or with relatives: the child’s birth certificate and consent from the absent parent. Ask us early — these cases need extra time.
What Eman Way handles
We submit the application through the official Saudi Umrah system on your behalf, match it to your flight and hotel bookings (the visa is tied to an approved package), and give you the approved visa before departure. You do not visit an embassy.
The visa covers the Umrah itself, your stay in Makkah and Madinah, and ziarah visits included in the package.
Timing
Submit your documents as soon as you book. We recommend booking at least four to six weeks before departure so there is room to fix a document problem — a photo rejected for a shadow, a name that does not match the passport — without stress. Peak seasons (Ramadan, school holidays) fill earlier, so book earlier.
Common reasons for delay
- Passport expiring within 6 months of travel.
- A photo with a patterned background, glasses glare, or a head covering that hides the hairline (for women, a plain headscarf is fine — the face must be fully visible).
- Name spelled differently on the booking form and in the passport. Copy it exactly, including "bin" / "binti".
- Missing consent documents for children.
Non-Malaysian passport holders living in Malaysia
Eman Way can include international residents in a Malaysian group. Requirements differ by nationality — some need an additional approval — so tell us your passport country when you enquire and we will confirm what applies before you pay a deposit.
Frequently asked questions
- Do Malaysians need a visa for Umrah?
- Yes. Malaysian passport holders need an Umrah visa for Saudi Arabia. Eman Way applies for it as part of every Umrah package.
- How long must my passport be valid for Umrah?
- At least 6 months from your travel date, with at least two blank pages.
- How early should I book to be safe on the visa?
- Four to six weeks before departure is comfortable. Peak seasons need more, because packages fill before the visa window closes.
- Can a woman perform Umrah without a mahram?
- Saudi rules have allowed women to travel for Umrah without a mahram since 2021. In an Eman Way group you travel with a mutawwif and other pilgrims throughout.
